Lord Krishna OR Narayani Sena
Lord Krishna OR Narayani Sena
During the preparations of the biggest war ever fought i.e.
Mahabharat, representatives from both sides went to Lord Krishna to seek help
in the war. Lord Krishna was sleeping at that time. Duryodhan reached first and
sat in a chair which was near the head of Krishna. Arjun entered later and being
a true devotee sat at the legs of Narayan. Balaram had already refrained from
taking part in the war. He had taken a vow from Krishna that Krishna would not
be partial towards Arjun and will help whoever he saw first.
When Krishna woke up he saw Arjun seated on the ground near
his legs. He turned around and saw Duryodhan sitting near his head. We can understand the difference between a
true devotee/friend and a fair weathered friend clearly. Arjun genuinely
needed help and Duryodhan wanted to exploit Krishna’s vow.
Moving on Krishna offered Arjun the first choice between 1
whole akshauhini of Narayani Sena or himself unarmed. 1 Akshauhini consists of
21870 chariots, 21780 elephants, 65,610 cavalry and 1,09,350 infantry. Narayani
Sena was said to be the finest army in the world. Seeing this Duryodhan
intervened and told Krishna that he would be breaking his promise as he (Duryodhan)had
come first. Krishna explained him that according to his promise he was supposed
to help the person who he saw first.
Arjun requested Krishna to come on his side and he happily
agreed. Duryodhan was delighted to hear this as he wanted the army badly. Now
the ratio of army in akshauhini was 7:11 in the favour of Kauravs, still they
lost.
Learning:
The Supreme Lord always tests our devotion. He wants to know
whether we are like Arjun or Duryodhan. Arjun could have easily chosen the sena
as Krishna had vowed not to lift any weapon, but he chose his friend and proved
his devotion. In return, Krishna helped the Pandavas win. He helped them in many
instances but the biggest was that he convinced Arjun to fight when he was
leaving the war. Without Arjun, Pandavas had no chance of winning. Krishna
blessed Arjun and all species till date by giving the knowledge of Bhagvad
Gita. The Supreme One will atleast test our devotion once. Instead of becoming
greedy like Duryodhan, we have to prove our bhakti by choosing him and then he
will come and change our life.
I always
say if you have dedication, faith, focus and devotion like Arjun then Madhav
has the reins of your life’s chariot.
Bhagvad Gita 10.9, Krishna says
मच्चित्ता मद्गतप्राणा बोधयन्त: परस्परम् |
कथयन्तश्च मां नित्यं तुष्यन्ति च रमन्ति च || 9||
mach-chittā
mad-gata-prāṇā bodhayantaḥ parasparam
kathayantaśh cha māṁ nityaṁ tuṣhyanti cha ramanti cha
With
their minds fixed on Me and their lives surrendered to Me, My devotees remain
ever content in Me. They derive great satisfaction and bliss in enlightening
one another about Me and in conversing about My glories.
That’s it for today’s blog. Join in tomorrow if you

Till then Jai Shri Krishna. Have a great day!
