Hanuman's Humbleness(Part-2)
Hanuman’s Humbleness (Part-2)
Hanuman entered the kingdom and started finding Sita. He saw
a temple of Lord Ram. He got confused that how come a pious soul is living in a
kingdom of demons. He started chanting Lord Ram’s name and hearing this
Vibhisan immediately came to see, who was chanting Ram’s name. Vibhisan asked
him whether he was Ram himself who had come to bless him. Hearing this Hanuman
disclosed his identity and his purpose of coming to Lanka.
Vibhisan told him that Sita was kept in Ashok Vatika. When
Hanuman reached Ashok Vatika, Ravan was threatening Sita. He was asking her to
marry him. Sita replied that she was abducted when no one was by her side and
still Ravan is not not ashamed. She further continued and said that she had
absolutely no respect for him. On hearing this Ravan filled with rage said that
she had insulted him and now she had to marry him otherwise she would lose her
life.
Sita said that either she would be with Lord Ram or accept
death. Ravan rushed to kill her but Mandodri(his wife) stopped him from doing
so. He added that Sita had only a month’s time to make a decision. Trijita, a
rakshasi who was made to serve Sita had a vision the night before. She recited
the vision to everyone. She said she saw a monkey burning the whole kingdom and
Ram winning the war and giving the kingdom to Vibhishan. She said that it was
best that all of them should help Sita. Sita in despair said to Trijita that
she no longer wanted to live and asked for some wood to burn herself. Trijata
comforted her and said that Lord will himself come to rescue her.
Seeing this Hanuman dropped the souvenir that he had brought.
Sita was delighted to see Ram’s ring. Hanuman started saying the glories of
Lord Ram which were nectar to Sita’s ears. She then asked who was telling her
all of this?
Hanumanji then reveals himself and answers her question.
Before telling his answer I would first like to tell what would have been the
answer from a normal being. A normal being would have started singing his
glories and telling about all the effort he had done to find Sita (killing of
Sursa,Sinhika, etc). But Hanumanji said the humblest line ever possible.
He said: राम दूत मैं मातु जानकी। सत्य सपथ करुनानिधान की॥
यह मुद्रिका मातु मैं आनी। दीन्हि राम तुम्ह कहँ सहिदानी॥
I am a
messenger of Lord Ram and I swear upon him that there is no better introduction
of mine than this. This ring has been sent by him.
Sita said that does Raghunath even remember her. He had not
come to rescue her till now.
Hanuman said: जौं रघुबीर होति सुधि पाई। करते नहिं बिलंबु रघुराई॥
अबहिं मातु मैं जाउँ लवाई। प्रभु आयुस नहिं राम दोहाई॥
If Lord Ram had any news about you, he wouldn’t have waited a
second. If you want mother, I can take you right now but I don’t have the
permission of my Lord.
He said that she should wait for Ram as he has a huge army
like him. Now Hanumanji went in a small size. Sita doubted that they had any
chance of winning against warriors who had defeated the Devtas.
Sita said: मोरें हृदय परम संदेहा l
Hanuman: सुनि कपि प्रगट कीन्हि निज देहा
कनक भूधराकार सरीरा।
On hearing the doubt of Sita he increased his body size and
was as tall as a mountain. One interesting thing to note here is that “Generally we show our power to scare but
Hanumanji shows his power to remove fear.”
Sita granted him the boon of remaining immortal. Hanumanji
now asked her that he wanted to eat fruits as he had travelled a long way and
was feeling hungry seeing those delicious fruits in Ashok Vatika. Sita granted
him the permission and he started eating with the thought of Lord Ram’s feet.
I will end the blog for today. Most probably tomorrow’s blog
will be the last part and learning will be included in that only.
Till then Jai Bajrang Bali. Have a great day!
